Getting Started on EvolvedWotLK

Prepare your client, connect to EvolvedWOTLK, and start playing. Everything you need is organized below in the order you need it.

For the easiest setup, use the official EvolvedWOTLK client. It already contains the required addons and core patches.

Connection

Set the realmlist

Open C:\EvolvedWOTLK\Data\enUS\realmlist.wtf, replace its contents with the command below, and save the file.

realmlist.wtfset realmlist login.evolvedwotlk.com

If you configure Config.wtf instead, keep quotation marks around the server address.

Confirm patches and addons

Players using the official client can continue immediately. Existing-client users should verify that every required download is in the correct folder.

Launch

Start playing

Launch Wow.exe, sign in with the account you created, choose a realm, and begin your adventure.

You are readyUse your account name—not your email address—on the game login screen.

Required addons and patches are already included. Extract the archive, confirm your realmlist, and launch the game.

Only use files published through the official Downloads page and compare checksums when available.

Common fixes

Troubleshooting

Most connection issues come from the client version, realmlist location, cached data, or missing custom files.

Wrong client version

Use Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a. Retail, Classic, and clients from other expansions cannot connect correctly.

Realmlist is in the wrong folder

Edit C:\EvolvedWOTLK\Data\enUS\realmlist.wtf. A different client locale uses its matching folder, such as Data\enGB.

Close the game, remove C:\EvolvedWOTLK\Cache, and launch the client again so its cached server data is rebuilt.

Windows blocks the archive

Review the browser warning and the archive's Windows file properties. Unblock the archive before extracting it if necessary.

Custom systems are missing

Confirm required MPQ files are in C:\EvolvedWOTLK\Data and addon folders are in C:\EvolvedWOTLK\Interface\AddOns.

Credentials are rejected

Sign in to the game with your account name rather than your email address. Website and game access use the same account password.
